I could probably put "worked with care/great care but I'm hoping for a much better translation :)
"Les matières nobles comme le lin sont travaillés avec soin"
Noble materials such as linen are workd with utmost care
I really don't like "worked" here, it doesn't suit the context in my opinion

Rather wordy and I can't find a way out of using work. But wholeheartedly agree with your choice of utmost, which I was going to suggest too! Travailler is more than just work on alone, but includes perhaps even putting gloves on and at least taking great care to have ultra clean hands.

: I agree with "handled with utmost care" but I would omit "as they are worked on" entirely (even though the French verb is "travailler");
