English英语译成Chinese汉语: Heuristic play in children General field: 社会科学 Detailed field: 教育/教育学
原文文本 - English英语 Heuristic play is rooted in young children’s natural curiosity. As babies grow, they move beyond being content to simply feel and ponder objects, but wanting to find out what can be done with them. Toddlers have an urge to handle things: to gather, fill, dump, stack, knock down, select and manipulate in many ways. Household or kitchen utensils offer this kind of activity as every parent knows, and can occupy a child for surprising stretches of time. When toddlers make an enjoyable discovery – for instance when one item fits into another, or an interesting sound is produced – they often repeat the action several times to test the result, which strengthens cognitive development as well as fine muscle control and hand/eye coordination.
翻译文本 - English英语 This is a three-year programme. The programme aims to enable students to extend their knowledge of Chinese classics, enhance their understanding and lay a solid foundation for skilled application of classical Chinese, so that they can deeply explore and interpret the classical Chinese language, ethics, and the cultural and historical heritage. Academic studies and cultivation of virtue is through reading and interpreting the wisdom of the past sages embedded in classic texts such as The Governing Principles of Ancient China and The Complete Library of the Four Branches of Literature. The purpose of this programme is to lay a solid foundation for prospective students both in terms of knowledge and technical skills; and at the same time to train students to put their knowledge into practice in daily life so that they can eventually become top experts in ancient Chinese classics.

翻译文本 - English英语 Confucius said: "Benevolence arises from the essence of propriety, which requires us to restrain ourselves and show tolerance to others. If we can practice moderation and return to decorum for one day, people will emulate our virtue. Cultivation of virtue is entirely down to us, why should we expect others to show us?"
-- The Analects
Only the one with the utmost sincerity can reveal his true nature;
When his true nature is completely revealed, he can help awaken all others;
When the true nature of all people can be revealed, so can that of all things;
When the true nature of all beings can be uncovered, he can help heaven and earth transform and nurture everything, and then he can merge with heaven and earth as one.
-- The Doctrine of the Mean
Virtuous people conform to the way of heaven and earth;
their wisdom shines like the sun and the moon;
the way they handle matters is as orderly as the progress of the four seasons;
they foretell good and bad fortunes as remarkably as the supernatural beings.
-- Changes of Zhou (I Ching or Yi Jing)

A bit about my journey so far -
I am passionate about understanding differences in human thought, culture and language.
I often translate projects related to Education, Technology, Market Insights, Business and Finance, Christian Theology and Sinology.
I am also an experienced subtitler. I have subtitled documentaries, YouTube videos, TV interviews and conferences. Please check out the TED videos I have subtitled involving a range of topics (www.ted.com/profiles/13233472/translator).
I have had professional training in sinological translation - translating ancient Chinese into modern English. It requires excellent Chinese language ability and an understanding of the historical context of ancient literature, philosophy and their relevance to today's society. I am best at translating Confucius and Buddhist stories. Please listen to my transcreation of Chinese folktales (www.ximalaya.com/album/31909517).
I also teach English and Chinese Mandarin, for which I have developed teaching methods that have proven very effective and attracted a growing fan base. Most of my students are based in China. They aim to improve their written and spoken English for work or study. Many hold managerial positions in their jobs, and others have successfully entered universities in the UK and US for postgraduate studies.
In addition to the above, I am also an experienced desktop publishing specialist. I have been working as a designer since completing my MA in Graphic Design with distinction in 2008. Please check out my design portfolio (www.behance.net/chloe-liu).
