Einen künstlichen Darmausgang nennt man auch Stoma. Dieses Wort kommt aus dem Griechischen und heißt "Mund" oder "Öffnung".
Das Stoma ist eine Ausleitung des Darms durch die Bauchdecke und kann entweder vorübergehend (temporär) oder dauerhaft (permanent) angelegt sein.
Bei der künstlichen Ausleitung von Stuhl aus einem Teil des Dickdarms spricht man von einem Kolostoma, bei der Ausleitung durch einen Teil des Dünndarms von einem Ileostoma. Die künstliche Harnausleitung wird Urostoma genannt.
Die Versorgung Ihres Stomas ist ganz einfach zu handhaben. Die Ausscheidungen werden in einem speziell entwickelten Beutelsystem aufgefangen. Diese Stomabeutel bestehen aus einem sogenannten Hautschutz und einem Beutel. Der Hautschutz sorgt dafür, dass die Versorgung sicher auf Ihrer Haut haftet und gleichzeitig schonend zu der stomaumgebenden Haut ist. An den Hautschutz angebracht ist der Beutel. In diesem Beutel wird Ihr Stuhl oder Ihr Urin gesammelt.
Es gibt die Stomaversorgung als einteiliges oder auch als zweiteiliges System. Bei der einteiligen Versorgung befindet sich der Hautschutz direkt am Beutel. Zu einem zweiteiligen System gehören eine Basisplatte und ein Beutel. Der Beutel wird mittels eines Ringverschlusssystems oder eines Klebeverschlusssystems an der Platte befestigt.

A stoma is an artificial opening in the intestine. The term comes from Greek and means "mouth" or "opening".
The stoma is an outlet from the intestine through the intestinal wall and can be introduced temporarily or permanently.
The provision of an artificial outlet for stool from the large intestine is called a colostomy, and from the small intestine an ileostomy. The provision of an artificial outlet for urine is called a urostomy.
Caring for your stoma is very easy. Secretions are collected in a specially designed pouch system, consisting of a skin barrier and a bag. The skin barrier ensures that the system adheres to your skin as well as providing protection to the surrounding skin. The bag is attached to the skin barrier and collects the faeces or urine. The system consists of one or two components. In the single-component system, the skin barrier is fixed directly to the bag. The two-component system consists of a plate and a bag. The bag is fixed to the plate by means of a ring seal or an adhesive seal.
