agree  George Rabel: I like it, but I´d probably use Hugo´s suggestion above in this case. In reference to your "register" comment, written English tends to be more colloquial than Spanish, so it is not always advisable, in my opinion, to attempt to preserve the register

Explanation:
Creo que niguna de las opciones anteriores indica el significado ulterior de la expresión.

El NKIT es la última novedad, el que todos prefieren, el que llegó para quedarse, el que barrió con todo lo anterior, el que está de moda y similares.

No recuerdo ninguna expresión en español que indique lo mismo pero debe haberla. En Venezuela usamos "la última Coca Cola del desierto" para algo similar aunque no denota novedad. Podría ser sólo local.
