Update Sorry it's taken a while... I can't get Daniel's link to work so can't compare it with the photo I now have. I heard back from client (who had to go back to the designer). I do have a photograph now but it's been sent as an attachment, rather than a link, and I can't figure out how to upload it here. This is what the client said: "Es geht um den Teil vorne am Hals, der höher steht, als bei anderen Pullis. Also eigentlich ein Kragen, der zur Kapuze gehört und den man durch den Reißverschluss auch bis über den Hals schließen kann"

I agree with Daniel... ...you really need a picture of the hoodie. Can you find the item online or ask the client? Without it you really don't have a chance as "Steg" is one of those extremely precise German words that don't need to be as specific in EN. Seeing the picture will help you describe the item correctly =)

Do you... have any pictures of the hoodie? It could be a storm flap over the collar (as with buttons here: https://www.amazon.de/HUMÖR-Humör-Fade-Jacke/dp/B008UTT9GE).
