Does "couverture" mean hedging here? I had translated it as "covering" but am now not too sure.

2. Couverture des plans d’options d’achat d’actions et des attributions d’actions gratuites
Dans le cadre de la couverture des plans d’options d’achat d’actions et d’attribution d’actions gratuites décidés par le Directoire et le conseil d’administration, XXX a procédé le 21 septembre 2010 à l’achat de 1 535 490 options d’achat à un prix de 34,21€ exerçable le 13 juillet 2017.
