ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* Supervises the administration of new building and remodeling projects normally designed by consulting architects and constructed by contractors who successfully bid on the projects;
* Supervises and reviews the work of architects and other professional and paraprofessional engineers, technicians, and inspectors engaged in the design and construction of City buildings;
* Maintains all liaison between the City and consultant architects;
* Ensures the inclusion of complete building needs which are required by law or requested by departments into the design, construction, and remodeling of building projects;
* Reviews architectural submissions regarding orientation of buildings, energy efficiency and other conservation measures, and the choice of cost effective materials;
* Prepares preliminary cost estimates and building cost standards;
* Controls the Architectural Design and Construction Management Section budget;
* Supervises the preparation of architectural activity reports;
* Presents the City's position and policies to other governmental jurisdictions, private firms, and the general public on certain architectural matters;
* Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
