French term

recouvrement précontentieux

French to English Bus/Financial Finance (general) finance / insurance
In an insurance contract:
In a list of "modules" covered by the contract:
"Recouvrement précontentieux et contentieux - Ref. xxxx
Recouvrement des créances non garanties - Réf. xxxx"
I assume "contentieux" is collection of debts through legal means / the courts and "précontentieux" is through some procedure before it gets to that point, but what is it called in English?

pre-legal recovery

Means exactly the same as Mohan's answer, but perhaps more suited to a British English audience.
