This morning, when I logged into my PROZ profile I realized things had changed...

"In order to post in the ask-the-asker box and peer grade other users' answers in this question, users should have at least 20 PRO points in the corresponding language pair"

Apparently you can no longer agree/disagree with an answer if you don't have at least 20 points in the pair. It seems to me kind of excessive since not necessarily having 20 points makes of you a super expert, and not

Apparently you can no longer agree/disagree with an answer if you don't have at least 20 points in the pair. It seems to me kind of excessive since not necessarily having 20 points makes of you a super expert, and not having them means you're not qualified. There may be extremely qualified translators who just registered on PROZ and because of this, obviously, can't have gained points so far. Now that, with the new rules, make them ineligible to give their opinion...I'm not sure this is democratic.

What do you colleagues think, ?

funny Jun 12, 2010

I agree with you Fabrizio and the funny thing is that I meet the requirements and I still cannot agree or disagree - the message I see:
"In order to post in the ask-the-asker box and peer grade other users' answers in this question, users should have at least 20 PRO points in the corresponding language pair."

well, doesn't matter. I don't need to participate.
Ewa

Some people who may have the right level of expertise may not answer your question because of the points thing. That would leave me with a lot of doubts.

Me too Jun 12, 2010

Yes, me too. I've definitely got enough points but there are no agree/disagree options available to me in my subject pairs. Has anyone submitted a support request about this?

What also concerns me is that in pairings where I haven't got enough points, I feel I may still be able to contribute - what is the point of precluding people on some arbitrary basis? Perhaps it should be based on your overall KudoZ points if you have to have a cutoff point? In English - English questions, for

Perhaps it should be based on your overall KudoZ points if you have to have a cutoff point? In English - English questions, for example, I haven't got many points, mainly because the questions are often obvious so I don't always answer, or by the time I get round to answering, someone else has already answered, or the asker is a non-native speaker and doesn't necessarily choose the appropriate answers - that's their choice. However, as a native English speaker, I feel it's rather harsh to prevent me commenting on someone else's answer or adding a note in the discussion, just because I haven't passed some arbitrary limit!
