Spanish term
Estamos salvados…Qué gentuza mas aburrida
Spanish to English
Art/Literary
Poetry & Literature
The Spanish couple had two visitors – Americans – who, because the road to their remote house was blocked, had to stay until late in the evening, and after it opened, as the visitors are leaving, the wife says to her husband “Estamos salvados,” and the husband replies, “Qué gentuza mas aburrida.”

We're rid of them/thank goodness/God they've gone ... What boring people/Yawnsville
Gentuza really is very strong, but I wonder if it is intended to be so strong, and I have to say I'm relucant to go beyond the translation I offer. Spanish tendency to use rather extreme language?

sorry, I wanted to write "finally" instead of "alas"...
So, "Finally we're safe...What a dull pair of petty people"

Phew!.... What a shower!
a slightly more emphatic version...
"shower" of course being a familiar form of "rabble/mob"

Or
Phew!... What a shower - boring or what!
I wouldn't say What a boring shower, as it sounds wrong, and "Boring or what!" is more emphatic. But I would have no hesitation over expressing this strongly, (a) to express their relief, and (b) presumably the visitors are out of earshot. It would even be quite understandable if they were to go further and say something like "What ------- bores!"
