Agreement - Promise 10:26 Feb 1, 2011
For those who may be interested. There is in fact a lot of confusion between contracts and agreements and what they do. In English we refer to say a pledge, a lease, a conveyance, a mortgage, but in Spanish they always say Contrato de (prenda, arrendamiento, hipoteca) when what happens is that the 'Contrato' actually creates the pledge, lease, mortgage etc. This can cause confusion. In English I always say 'Lease' for 'Contrato de Arrendamiento' because in law a lease agreement can be construed to mean an agreement to create a lease (in the future). It is a bit of a thorny one this in legal translation but the content of the document itself always clarifies what is happening. |
