Spanish term or phrase: diversidad de lo común
This text is part of a book on a conference held by Ibero-American universities on to establish their role, purpose and future plans. I can't quite make out what they mean here by "lo común". Any thoughts?

"[la voluntad las universidades] de intensificar las relaciones universitarias, impulsar la concepción de las universidades como lugar de encuentro que articulen en redes la riqueza de la **diversidad de lo común** y la de difundir ante los gobiernos, las Cumbres Iberoamericanas, las instituciones y la sociedad, la conciencia creciente de la necesidad de disponer de una Iberoamérica vertebrada en torno al conocimiento."

Thanks!

I think it's more or less in line with the "unity in diversity" concept. (I'd still query to be sure.)

diversity

Explanation:
I would leave out "de lo común" - it means from the commonplace - and say something like "create networks expressing [or perhaps even celebrating] the richness of diversity."

community diversity

Explanation:
The community or general population, ie those who have access to higher education, ostensibly anyone, so "community diversity", or "diversity of the populace" are good options.

[their] shared diversity

Explanation:
In this context, this might work just fine.

History of the Glasgow Mela

... the concept of Mela has developed across the world to represent a coming together of many peoples, from varied cultures, to ***celebrate their shared diversity***.

It is important to see how these people are able to assert their differences, but at the same time celebrate **their shared diversity**with respect.

I hope this helps!
