Italian term

Visto si autentica

Italian to English Law/Patents Law: Contract(s) Power of attorney
At the bottom of a power of attorney. It seems unlikely that this means "Approved if authentic".

Any guidance very much appreciated.

seen and authenticated

It means: after having seen the document , I authenticate the signature

It is not read and approved. The notary (or lawyer or consulate or embassy) does not approve the document, he only authenticates the signature, meaning authentification of the identity of the person who signed it

Read and approved. Authentication

The term "visto" means read and approved.
I do not know the exact formulation in English but the meanig is:
the document has been read and approved, so it can be authenticated/legalized/certified.
I think that the exact sentence should be
Visto: si autentica and then a signature or a stamp
so it could be translated
Read and approved. Autenthication + signature to be authenticated
