undermounted (sink unit)
Hi Suzanne
This is probably an undermount sink unit (check out the Franke website). The "a filo" part means that the sink is flush with the worktop (i.e. it does not protrude above the surface). Since a normal "inset sink", although it is built in, will inevitably be proud of the worktop, the only way to achieve a perfectly flush surface is to mount the sink to the top from underneath. These are pretty smart modern units that are obviously totally impractical to install but look great in the kitchen. It may be a good idea to check the rest of your context to see if you think this type of sink fits the bill.
Cheers

: Sounds good to me, I'd get the word "flush" in there too. You just had one installed have you derek?

Thanks. Me? Wouldn't touch it with a barge pole. I've got a 50 cm stainless drop-on that maybe looked modern in, say, 1960? Works fine and costs SFA (still available from downmarket outlets)

: Not to mention that you need a granite or marble benchtop to support it!

: What about 'flush fitting undermounted sink units' to cover all eventualities?

Thanks - and why not indeed

I'm sorry for the confusion: it are sinks (two together) in a small kitchen unit.
Kind regards,
Suzanne
