ΤΟ ΙΑΤΕ αναφέρει σαν "λογιστική περίοδο" και σαν "οικονομικό έτος"/"οικονομική χρήση"/"χρήση" τα:
- accounting year
- fiscal year
- financial year
- business year
Τελικά, αν η πρότασή μου αναφέρεται σε άλλη περίπτωση, μάλλον τελικά το ΙΑΤΕ μας μπερδεύει εδώ παρά μας βοηθά.

Για να μην παιδευόμαστε -κι επειδή φαίνεται να υπάρχει σύγχυση:

A fiscal year (or financial year or accounting reference date) is a 12-month period used for calculating annual ("yearly") financial statements in businesses and other organizations. In many jurisdictions, regulatory laws regarding accounting require such reports once per twelve months, but do not require that the twelve months constitute a calendar year (i.e. January to December). The financial results presented to shareholders are therefore a "photograph" of company's accounts at the accounting reference date. -------Although September seems to be the most popular ending month, it must be understood that the end date varies between businesses and countries.


Δηλ. "οικονομικό έτος/χρήση" ή "λογιστική χρήση".

Όπως και φαίνεται κι από αυτό:

Για το «εμπορικό έτος» -δεν υπάρχει οικονομικός/λογιστικός όρος «εμπορικό έτος» -«εμπορική χρήση» OYΔΕΜΙΑ σχέση έχει με έτη και... περιόδους. Δηλ. «σε ένα ακίνητο γίνεται εμπορική χρήση» κ.λπ. Το τι έχει προκύψει από μετάφραση, είναι ΑΛΛΟ θέμα!

Ελπίζω να είμαι αρκετά σαφής.

Το "end of the accounting period" είναι ασφαλέστερο στην ίδρυση μιας εταιρείας (από το "end of THE accounting year") όταν το έτος είναι λειψό.

Στην ουσία, financial year και fiscal year αναφέρονται κι αυτά σε λογιστικές χρήσεις και η ΕΕ κάθε "εταιρική χρήση" που κοίταξα, "financial year" τη μεταφράζει.
