Once again, I agree with you! I had thought of goodwill but I think this is more - it seems to means handing over the business as such, doesn't it?

with a succession contract

Hello,

I think "succession" is the right word here. It means that the business is going to handed over to someone else.

remise = handing over

It might be this simple!
Peer comment(s):

agree teo_m : In the context it is not a noun "un contrat de remise de commerce" it refers to the continuation or resumption of business in the leased commercial space

remise du fonds de commerce?

transfering a 'fonds de commerce' implies all the assets attached to a business (including people if you consider the clientele, or patients for a doctor's consulting room).

you do find on the internet expressions such as: 'sale of a business as a going concern'

agree Silvia Brandon-Pérez : You should probably add that as a good answer, 'as a going concern.' Good call.

agree teo_m : yes, the context is transfering a business as a going concern to a third party and not being in violation of the original lease if the lessor agrees to it.
