This is from the Bio/Mech (or BMT) part of the waste treatment (as opposed to the Mech/Bio or MBT), where 3 different methods are mentioned. Is this saying that the methanization process can run 'in series' (meaning in more than one stage?) treating the entire waste stream or does it simply mean 'in-line' in such a case? As for 'en dérivation' I have understood it to mean 'as a diversion' from the main process, treating only a selected part of it? Just wanted to check that I have understood the distinction being made here. Terms appear in the 3rd option being suggested below.

2) Pré-traitement à la chaux vive
Le procédé breveté Oxalor consiste en un mélange d’OM pré-broyées avec de la chaux vive pour hygiénisation/déhydratation des fractions organiques. L’ensemble du flux est ensuite séparé par trommel et table densimétrique.

3) Méthanisation
La méthanisation peut aussi s’insérer dans un procédé type BMT, soit ***en série*** (mise en réacteur de l’ensemble du flux), soit ***en dérivation*** (méthanisation d’une fraction extraite par percolation, puis BMT sur le digestat + fraction résiduelle).
