limón persa? (lime / Persian lemon)
Hi Terry,
Could it be limón persa without the comma, or maybe the persa refers to limón persa? Look at this ref.
Esta propiedad se localiza en el estado de Tabasco, México, aproximadamente a 90 minutos de la capital del estado, Villahermosa, en una carretera totalmente pavimentada hasta el área donde se ubica, en la colonia Sánchez Mármol.
Esta zona es la más grande productora de limón persa en México, después de Martínez de la Torre en el estado de Veracruz.
A here's a ref. to Persian Lemon (H.S. no.)
HS CODE: 080510 Product: Oranges
HS CODE: 080520 Product: Mandarins
HS CODE: 080520 Product: Fresh tangerine
HS CODE: 080530 Product: Persian lemon
Also known as plain old LIME.
LIME (PERSIAN or TAHITIAN LEMON), limon persa, Citrus latifolia (http://www.echonet.org/tropicalag/spanish.engligh.dictionary...
Just a guess... :-)

Aside from the great refs., I looked again at the text and it turns out I'd CLEARLY seen a comma...that WASN'T there (what an idiot!!). You're a life saver Cindy Chadd:-)
Thanks also to Francesco and Oleg:-)

Peaches?
Could it be? In some Italian southern dialects, that were probably influenced by Spanish, there is a word for "peach" that resembles your mystery.

avocado
With the standard Spanish spelling 'persea'.
Good luck!
