Maybe this should be a forum question...I have to translate many small biographies like the following. How should I consistently translate all these small anagrams. Generally, for diplomas and certifications I leave the French notation and explain the equivalent in paranthesis. But this becomes too long in these small biographies. Also what should I do about the organisation names, should I translate the names and create a new anagram with the new name? Again length becomes a problem.

These are typically French qualifications. You cannot translation and recreate an English anagram (which doesn't exist)! Leave them as they are.
I recently translated a CV full of diplomas. I marked them with an asterisk and put a key at the end of the CV explaining in English what they represent.
You will find most of them in a normal dictionary.

If space is an issue, as you say, then leave these acronyms as is. There ARE cases where it would be desirable to give a brief definition/description of their meaning, but you can't do the same thing in all circumstances.

DESS "professional master" and DEA "Research Master"
You could say "Professional Master" (2nd year) for DESS and "Research Master" (2nd year) for DEA so that it makes sense to the target readers. Because with the new LDM system in France,they say "Master 2eme année (M2) Professionnel ou Recherhe".
