Jun 9, 2023 21:18: writeaway changed "Field" from "Art/Literary" to "Other"

Jun 9, 2023 23:04: AllegroTrans changed "Level" from "PRO" to "Non-PRO"

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (3): Tony M, Rachel Fell, AllegroTrans

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

@ Emmanuella this is the kind of sentences that could be used in hundreds / thousands of different contexts.

If no specific context was given, then it's just a free for all - the appropriate translation method becomes "let loose your imagination".

I am not going anywhere!

idiomatic, colloquial
Peer comment(s):

neutral Tony M : But doesn't really quite convey the same nuance of meaning — this could just mean "I'm planning on sticking around", whereas the original really conveys "There's no way I'm leaving!"
1 hr
neutral writeaway : Agree with Tony. This is very simple and basic but you've changed the actual meaning.

I courteously disagree with your comment, I think the meaning of "I am not going anywhere" is spot on, all the more so with the exclamation point. It is also possible to add "definitely": "I am definitely..."

It is an indiscutable and undeniable certitude that I am sticking around just where I am. Period.
