Through years of engaging with our target audience and through hundreds of recent user feature requests, interviews and questionnaires, we have let the market clearly define the requirements for XXX Advanced. The technical solution will combine several leading technologies in order to deliver an innovative product to meet these requirements.
The solution will heavily reuse elements of the existing solution, especially in terms of backend functionality as well as our experience in the specific technology stack in order to minimise uncertainties & risk, and confidently deliver the solution.
The following diagram illustrates the high-level architecture of XXX, including the current mobile solution and XXX Advanced and the technology stack to be used:
• XXX Advanced application: The web application will be coded in the modern cross-platform application stack of Ionic and Angular and will be provisioned through any web browser making it available to all desktop, laptop and tablet users. Appropriate frameworks and libraries will be used for data manipulation and analytics and visualisations.
• Backend: The existing backend will be expanded to deliver the additional capabilities needed. The backend utilises a microservices architecture, delivered through a dockerised environment on Azure Kubernetes Services and written in .Net Core. Cross-service communication is over REST API and Azure queues as appropriate. Data is persisted on Azure SQL and Mongo Atlas depending on the need.
• Continuous Integration / Delivery pipeline: In order to achieve rapid development and quick iterations while maintaining high code quality, our established CI/CD pipeline will be used for XXX Advanced featuring GitHub for source control, automatic code quality checks and linting, Jest for over 15,000 automatic tests and CircleCI for consistent and hands-off building and provisioning.
