German term

verdichtet

German to English Medical Medical: Cardiology Cardiovascular diseases
This is taken from a medical report about a patient with a pacemaker. It forms part of the results of an abdominal ultrasound examination.

Leber: Gut beurteilbar. Organe nicht vergrössert. Regelrechte Kontur. Oberfläche glatt. Echomuster homogen und nicht verdichtet. Pfortader perfundiert (20 cm/s). Lebervenen perfundiert.

Does verdichtet here refer to the type of echo pattern?

hyperechoic

In an ultrasound, areas of consolidation (Verdichtung) are hyperechoic. In an X-ray, they'd be called "consolidated".

Homogeneous echo pattern with no evidence of fatty change

This does refer to the echopattern of the liver. Fat deposition in liver cells results in an echogenic/ hyperechoic appearance of the hepatic parenchyma (‘verdichtet Echomuster’)

How about: The echo pattern has not been compressed....?

The echo pattern has not been manipulated. It is normal.
