"Recognized" or "acknowledged" ...meaning the fact that the student has passed an equivalent course is duly noted, with or without the transfer of "credits" as such, might be a good, safe approach in this context.

Sorry, I just saw this: Reconocimiento. Cuando el alumno haya aprobado la asignatura por equivalencia de estudios. Do you think it would be 'course credit'?

Is there any indication it may be... ...in relation to courses taken at another institution? If so, maybe courses 'accepted' (for transfer)?

I'm afraid there is no more context to add. It comes at the end of the transcript, before the Significado de las Abreviaturas.

There are no merits that can be assessed. Usually that word is used in certificates for grading/marking subjects or fields of study.

agree José Gómez Garza : I agree with this option. Another word could be "honors", depending on the context. The thing is "reconocimiento" could mean both "acknowledgement" and "honors" in the sense of "We acknowledge you took this course" or "We acknowledge you aced this course"
