with value on the date of payment

It means the funds must be cleared by that date.

agree Nikki Scott-Despaigne : I agree with your suggestion "on the date..." but it's fudged in the explanation "cleared BY that date"; it's cleared "on" that date.

Thanks for agreeing, but the lender is hardly going to reject the payment if it's made early:-)
disagree Daryo : in all bank statements I ever saw, it was a "value date" OTOH agree with the explanation

Just because you've never heard of it doesn't make it wrong. You should try Googling before disagreeing.
agree Adrian MM. (X) : with Nikki

actual date of payment

Peer comment(s):

disagree AllegroTrans : you have omitted the important bank term "with value"; it's a standard banking term

you're right, my mistake. I would then suggest: "with value on the actual date of payment"

on payday face value basis

suggestion
Peer comment(s):

disagree AllegroTrans : "payday" is the date when a person receives their wages; totally wrong here, as is "face value"

with a value date on the day of payment

on your bank statement a "value" is always an amount of money;
the day that is counted as the day when the money went in your account is the "value date"

neutral Nikki Scott-Despaigne : What you say is true, but I think you've missed the point. The question is how to render the fact that the value date is the date of physical payment (J+0) if made before midday. "Date de valeur" and "payment in date" are not necessarily the same.

neutral Adrian MM. (X) : agree with Nikki. Also, it's a value half-date by 12.00 noon e.g. African time.

agree CristianaC : value date is the right concept here - which must be the same as the payement date

disagree philgoddard : "Date on the day" is a tautology.
