patient letter to drug company
I'm translating a letter written by a patient to a drug company regarding their product (not the usual technical/medical report!). The patient is complaining about the usual cost of the drug plus a recent 20% price increase at the pharmacy.
At the end of the letter he politely writes "Grazie, mi piacerebbe avere una risposta" and then the following, after the signature:
Per conoscenza anche a Diritti dei consumatori.
*Dopo 4 settimane aperto da buttare.*

I don't know how to read this last sentence (sometimes cardiology and neurology are clearer).
Could it possibly be "discard after 4 weeks"?
How would you translate this?

Hello Joseph, I don't know if have found your answer yet, but I think your hunch is correct (I have taken my phrase from chloramphenicol eye drops and eye drops in general).
You could try asking the customer about what the medicine is exactly (drops? ointment? presumably not an injectable solution, as that usually has to be discarded after use) and then find some references to see if you are on the right track. HTH
