German term

X uebertraegt dem Distributor den Vertrieb dieser Erzeugnisse

German to English Law/Patents distribution agreements
Does anybody know of a good formula for this? I'm not sure whether you have to say "distribution rights" or just "distribution" in English, and I'm not sure of the correct verb either.

X appoints the Distributor 'the distributor'/grants him the distributorship/ of

Appoints the.. distributor - or to distribute - invariably works. This is one scene where it doubles up real rotten.

X transfers distribution of the products to the Distributor.

Or: X awards the distribution rights for these products to the Distributor

More context is always helpful.

Most distribution contracts and agreements would use similar terms and phraseology
Peer comment(s):

neutral Maureen Holm, J.D., LL.M. : not strictly a transfer, though 'delegation' could work in a different context

This formula is also used sometimes - see references.
Peer comment(s):

neutral Colin Newberry : "grants the distributor" without the "to"
