Discussion

Wolf Draeger Jul 4, 2013:
How about "Crafty consultants", lol! Not the kind of honesty you're looking for, no doubt ;-)
writeaway Jul 3, 2013:
Thank you very much! That's a big help to see the entire sentence. What are you own ideas up to now? What have you already rejected as unsuitable?
Julie FOLTZ (asker) Jul 3, 2013:

writeaway Jul 3, 2013:
Context or at least a full sentence en français showing exactly how this term/phrase is being used would be more than a little helpful. What are your own suggestions up to now and what have you already rejected?

a truly bespoke consultancy service

By "artisans du conseil" they mean they offer a carefully crafted, tailor-made service. They treat each client as differently as a craftsman approaches each of his works... There's plenty of room for imagination here.

agree Karl A. Wilson

Thanks Karl
neutral Wolf Draeger : It's a neat solution, but maybe a bit outdated, and bespoke repeats "sur mesure" & "adapté à vos besoins" later on.

consultants

consultants (in English) = experts-conseils
Peer comment(s):

neutral writeaway : see d box for context. Asker has provided the full context.

Like you say ... more context would be very useful. Artisans du conseil = experts-conseils = consultants (IMHO)
agree Nikki Scott-Despaigne : I agree with this one as in ordinary English, "consultant" already places the individual on the level of an expert, a specialist in the field.

A great big THANK YOU, Nikki ...

expert consultants

It would be helpful to see the term in context, but here is a suggestion.

"Our Expert Consultants

At the heart of our approach to serving our clients is an appreciation for the realities of their challenges, constraints, and opportunities. By balancing our extensive subject matter expertise and a leading-edge understanding of best practices in managing knowledge, information, and technology, we are able to create innovative, elegant, and, most importantly, effective solutions."

Given the additional context, I would stick with my original term, but I would restructure the sentence a bit, something along these lines:
Our expert consultants rely on experience, expertise and proven methodological tools to provide you ...
OR
We are expert consultants who rely on experience, expertise and proven methodological tools to provide you...
Peer comment(s):

agree writeaway : context: Véritables artisans du conseil, nous nous appuyons sur notre expérience, notre expertise et des outils méthodologiques aboutis pour vous proposer des prestations sur mesure et adaptées à vos besoins. agree your original answer needs improving
3 mins
Thank you for pointing out the additional context.
agree philgoddard : Your suggested translation needs improving, though - you can't say "EXPERT consultants who rely on EXPERience [and] EXPERTise." Maybe something like "expert consultants who rely on proven know-how and methodology."

Thanks, Phil. My suggested translation does indeed appear a bit awkward to me after a second reading. Yours works very well here.
agree mill2 : with philgoddard

neutral Nikki Scott-Despaigne : A "consultant" is by his/her very nature holding him/herself out to be an expert, but it might be necessary to embellish in this way to convey the original meaning.

skilled consultants

Someone who is an artisan has skills, whatever his activity.

"We understand that there are financial limitations that IT Managers have to work within. Olav's highly skilled consultants are generally able to work within your budget."

attentive and dedicated

A craftsman is attentive and dedicated to his work. The notions of skill and expertise are mentioned or implied further on, so I don't think one needs to repeat them at the beginning.

"sur mesure"and "adaptées à vos besoins" are tautological (as is so much of marketing speak), so I suggest "quality" in my 2nd example sentence.
Example sentence:

Attentive and dedicated, we rely on our experience, our expertise and cutting-edge methodology to offer you a tailor-made service customised to your needs.

Attentive and dedicated, we rely on our experience, our expertise and cutting-edge methodology to offer you a quality service customised to your needs.

Peer comment(s):

agree Yvonne Gallagher : just 1 "our" and replace "customised" with "crafted" "offer you a tailor-made service crafted to your needs"

Yes - thanks gallagy // "crafted to your needs" is v. good :)

Craftsmen of consulting

I think this is a very positive way of describing the idea that is obviously being suggested here.

For example:
"We are true craftsmen of consulting..."
