German term

Hilfsmittel

German to English Medical Medical: Pharmaceuticals Manufacture of pharmaceuticals - Swiss document
I know, I know ... there are dozens of entries in the gloss, but I'm still not sure what to call it here. Doc deals with filtration methods, viruses, etc.

Under Vorgehen:

Geräte, Materialien, Reagenzien und **Hilfsmittel**

In a similar document it had been translated as "auxiliaries," but I'm not keen on that. It's hard to tell whether they mean physical objects or possibly adjuvants.

Can anyone help??

neutral Cilian O'Tuama : Would there not be rather a large overlap between materials and supplies?

Could be, yes.

3 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "While I agree that there seems to be an overlap with materials, this is what it actually turned out to be (filters, funnels, etc.), and not part of the drugs themselves. I appeciate all your help, and excipients certainly would make sense in similar contexts. Thanks, Zareh, and everybody who contributed."

excipients

Äußerst gebräuchlich in der Pharmazie.

Looking at the order of the terms, it looks to me as if they do mean adjuvants, but it really is a tough call. Maybe you should use auxiliaries after all as this covers both possibilities.

agree Cilian O'Tuama : Hard to find the right word, IMO. Could be "excipients and adjuvants". I'd avoid auxiliaries. (Grüße allerseits! :-))

Gruß zurück, Cilian, stimme dir vollkommen zu.
agree Lirka : definitely excipients in the purely pharamceutical context; could be adjuvants in other contexts

supplements

in the USA, you buy supplements over the counter, like vitamins, probiotics, skin creams etc to boost your health. On the other hand, if technical things are meant, I go with Zadeh's answer, perhaps 'assorted supplies'
