French term

risques pondérés

Non-PRO French to English Bus/Financial Finance (general) Corporate subtitling
Hello,
I am subtitling a corporate meeting and I am having trouble with risques pondérés in the following sentence:

J'aimerais d'abord réfléchir à la taille de notre Groupe, à la gestion de nos risques pondérés et à notre avenir.

Weighted risks does not seem to fit!

Thanks in advance

risk-weighted assets

It's not the risks that are weighted. It's the assets that are weighted *by* the risks. (Typically, the assets are financial assets, but they could be business units or, figuratively, just about anything else of value to the company.)

I have never understood why the French talk about 'risques pondéres'.
Peer comment(s):

agree Nikki Scott-Despaigne : Yes, RWA. French does tend to shorten a large number of terms to the extent that the noun at the centre of the idea is dropped : actifs à risque pondérés. (Ditto 'un jogging' from 'un pantalon pour le jogging'... yeuch!)

Actually, actifs à risque pondérés would be "weighted risk assets" (but weighted by what exactly?). The more meaningful formulation is 'actifs pondérés des/par les/en fonction des risques'.
