From a medical report: "Nierentransplantat im linken Unterbauch, Polabstand 10 cm. Parenchymsaum nicht verschmälert und von regelrechter Echogenität mit gut abgrenzbaren Markkegeln."
Does the 'Parenchymsaum' of the kidney correspond to the cortex? "mit gut abgrenzbaren Markkegeln" seems to imply that the medulla is included as well. If not, what is the appropriate term? Parenchymal border, margin?

parenchymal margin
Not supremely confident on this - it's based mainly on looking up "Saum" (the "Parenchym" bit is definitely "parenchymal") and deducing which translation might be the most likely in this context. But "parenchymal margin" does get reasonable Google hits in relation to kidneys, so I think there's a chance that could be it.

Actually, after looking at the other Kudoz question provided by Zareh, I think "parenchymal thickness" or "renal parenchymal thickness" might be the way to go here.
