Italian term

......tale rettifica non può essere invocata dalla verificata in quanto il dato statistico rilevato......"
I am pretty sure the 'verificata' is a term that describes the subject, i.e. company or individual, being investigated. This term occurs often in the source text and I can only come up "the subject of the investigation/verification/audit", with 'audit being the first choice. Quite a blurb ..I am looking for something contextual and more elegant, or shorter.
any ideas? thanks !
