Italian term

senza rappresentanza e senza deposito

Italian to English Bus/Financial Business/Commerce (general)
Contratto di Agenzia senza rappresentanza e senza deposito.

Both 'senza rappresentanza' and 'senza deposito' have come up before and are in the Kudoz glossary but I'm still having difficulty finding the best wording for a UK audience.

I'm leaning towards 'undisclosed agency agreement' for the first part as this is what is suggested in the De Franchis Dictionary of Law but I'm open to alternative translations!

I'm sorry to say, not to my knowledge Ivana.
This is one of those very "Italian" things. The English possibilities are not exactly the same....
Easy, but very difficult to convey in a nutshell.

I'm hoping there might even be a single EN term that encompasses the entire IT phrase.

without representation or storage facilities

I have always understood this to mean "rappresentanza" as in "ufficio di rappresentanza" and "deposito" as in warehouse for goods. In other words the company gives the person an agency contract but without providing representation offices and/or storage facilities.

Undisclosed agency translates (according to De Franchis!) as "Rappresentanza occulta" so I would be very wary of putting that in place of this :-(

HTH! My lil ha'penny worth might get the ball rolling for you at least!

Yes I've checked mine again too! You are right Ivana it does translate "Mandato di agenzia senza rappresentanza" and "con rappresentanza" as you say, if you look up "mandato". But if you look up "rappresentanza" under "-occulta" it gives "undisclosed agency" going on to say it is unknown in civil law etc. etc. So not sure what we should make of that!

This has been niggling me! Ivana, I think you're right about undisclosed. How about "undisclosed agency agreement without storage/warehousing facilities"

Thanks Ivana :-)
Note from asker:
Thanks Linda. I've always understood the first part (con rappresentanza) to mean an agency that is authorised to enter into contracts on behalf of the principal without having to disclose the principal's name and that an agency without rappresentanza is only permitted to market and sell products on behalf of the principal and must disclose the principal's name. Strange about the De Franchis entry - just checked again and my De Franchis translates "Mandato di agenzia senza rappresentanza" as 'Grossomodo, undisclosed agency' and 'mandato di agenzia con rappresentanza' as 'Grossomodo potrebbe definirsi come: agency with disclosed principal'.
Pity it doesn' t have an entry for 'con deposito'!!
Me too!! I spent a good few hours earlier on today trawling through online documents :)) I like storage/warehousing facilities so that is definitely what I'll use - the whole phrase actually sounds like fluent English now - well done us and thanx for your help!!!!
Thanks again!

Thanks Denise! Thanks for the link too ... which at least appears to confirm my understanding of "con deposito" :-)
