You can't use "technical" and "technician" in English the way they're used in other languages - they mean "technology-related", which is not the case here. "Specialist" is a better translation.

Selected

Advanced Vocational Diploma in the Hotel Industry (+ French)

With qualifications you should always include the French because exact equivalents can't be assigned by the translator, so I would either keep the French and give the English gloss in brackets or give the English and indicate the French original in brackets.

Nb. re the subject matter. My first thought was also "hospitality" but I think it is closer to hotel/tourism subjects - you will be able to tell from the context I guess.

neutral carolynf : The translation of the explanatory text is very strange, for instance "avoir le Bac" means to have the Baccalaureat, (not the tray!!),there are also other anomalies

French term (edited): BREVET DE TECHNICIEN SUPERIEUR HOTELLERIE (B.T.S.H)

2-year technical diploma in Hospitality

This is what I use in the workshop I run for the French Employment Agency. I think it says all the necessary things without being too restrictive.

I believe it is actually a bad idea to translate too literally, especially if you don't know the country it is destined for.

neutral AllegroTrans : English only uses "technical" in connection with technology; the French term is much broader

I can't agree. See this link for "One of the less common, but extremely appealing technical college business career options is hospitality." http://jobsearchteens.com/technical-college-a-popular-option...
