Italian term

primo incarto

Italian to English Other Food & Drink
CIOCCOLATINI ASSORTITI al latte e fondenti primo incarto

Appears in an inventory list.

Not many ghits for 'primo incarto' in this context so I'm wondering what it could possibly mean and hope someone has come accross this before.

Discussion

Ivana UK (asker) Aug 27, 2010:
Hi, no there's nothing else. It's a very long list of inventory items so there's no context - just food lists under headings :)
Giuseppe Bellone Aug 27, 2010:
Ivana... isn't there a colour or type of paper added with the word "primo incarto", say "argento, oro, etc"??

agree Mr Murray (X) : Because we can't be certain of the material, and for lack of other specialized terms, I'd say this is a good bet.

Thanks. This is the standard term in food industry and as you say covers a variety of materials. Not all chocolates are wrapped in foil.
agree Cedric Randolph : No specifics for foil, could also be a paper wrapper as found in some of the better boxed bon bons, so this is most likely the best option

Thanks.
agree Giuseppe Bellone : Yes, probably they mean "without box/packet", which would make their cost higher.

foil or wrapping foil

I think they are talking about the thin silver foil to wrap individual chocolates as opposed to the paper coloured band that sometimes is added on top of the foil with name of chocolate, logos etc, see in the Caffarel example here. I hope this helps

primary wrapping

Shera Lyn's answer is spot on. Consider mine as an option.

BTW, in Italian 'incarto primario' gets more ghits than 'primo incarto'.
