Italian term

valutazione di fondatezza

Italian to English Law/Patents Law (general)
Context: "vi sia davvero ben poco agli atti per poter addivinire ad una valutazione di fondatezza dell'accusa"

My attempt:

"there is actually very little in the facts of the case to be able to come to an legitimate evaluation of the accusation."

Thank you!

assessment of whether the charge is founded

it may be better to restructure the phrase, as for example:

there is really too little in the records to be able to arrive at an assessment of whether there are good grounds for the charge
It looks fairly informal in register - is it part of a court document?
Note from asker:
yes, it is part of a court document. The language is particularly rambling. Thank you for your response!

Italian term (edited): valutazzione di fondatezza

an evaluation of whether...is well founded

you could turn it around slightly as above. HTH :).
