German term

Stanztext

German to English Medical Medical: Pharmaceuticals
"Stanztext Lösungsmittel [ NB that's the title of the section]
Im Rahmen der EU-Zulassung musste der Stanztext für die Lösungsmittel-Ampulle angepasst werden."

Does anyone know the standard EN equivalent, used in pharma documents?

Thanks a lot!

Thanks to everyone, and particularly to SusanneM for great references. I wrote a note to the client saying that it is not entirely clear whether the label for the ampoule is punched or the ampoule glass itself.
SusanneM Dec 23, 2009:
@MMUlr I think it's very likely that paper is punched before being attached to the vial (as in your perforations). Ampoules would probably break when treated this way. But I dont't think that lirka's text is about expiry dates and lot numbers. They depend on the date of production and have to be adjusted all the time.
MMUlr Dec 23, 2009:
@SusanneM regarding your URL (-> pdf file): There vorgestanzt is used in the same sense as "my" perforations between labels in order to separate them more easily.
MMUlr Dec 23, 2009:
Well ... to me, this is most likely a code no. (-> lot no., expiry date) not printed, but punched/pierced/perforated in the paper label of the solvent vial. I found "perforated" in this context, however, this is also used for the perforated margin (e.g. between labels), in order to separate individual labels (similar to postal stamps). I have no idea about the established term in English.

Another suggestion From a diploma thesis on ampoule packaging (http://tfh.konzeptpiraterie.de/raedel.pdf): Umstellung des Etikettenmaterials - Ersatz der durchgängigen Papierbandrolle durch vorgestanztes Etikettenpapier. So maybe "Stanztext" means "Text auf vorgestanztem Etikett (text on pre-punched label)" ....

Hopefully this doesn't cause more confusion ... From Wikipedia:

Another idea I have is "text imprints".
Anyone care to comment?
Lirka (asker) Dec 22, 2009:
@harald there's no indication of this, but who knows...
Braille?? ...this may refer to the "Information in Braille" given on the package of a medicinal product!?
Lirka (asker) Dec 22, 2009:
I know :) It's terrible. I asked one of my trusted colleagues who has been in pharma business for years and the best he could come up with was "tooled text", but that's not certain either.
Susanne Schiewe Dec 22, 2009:
Hi Lirka :-) There are hardly any matches für 'Stanztext' in German so I wonder what it refers to. 'Embossed text'?

punch(ed) text

IMO this might be punched data / text on the label of a vial (let's say, a vaccine vial).

Punch cards is used for these obsolete cards (-> http://www.maximumpc.com/article/news/computer_data_storage_... ), however, vial labels also have punched infos along the margin of the paper (mostly lot number, I suppose).
