I'd say it's definition b. It's quite common usage around here

Typo Yes, I think it should be control. I found the text of the actual law "Créase el Colegio Público de Abogados de la Capital Federal, que controlará el ejercicio de la profesión de abogado y tendrá a su cargo el gobierno de la matrícula respectiva...". I think autoridad refers to the Colegio as an institution (not meaning authorized). Thanks so much.

I think that then it should say "control" as opposed to "contralor". Maybe it is a typo and therefore, it should say "exercises the control of".

Thank you I understand the same thing. I found an entry in the Orellana dictionary for ejercer de contralor as "control, inspect, audit" and that seems to be the idea here. It might sound odd to use comptroller since this person is already the Vice President of the association...
