Yes moulding can be said both ways... but I also think "forming" could work.
Note from asker:
I've actually put forming in for the moment as I'm really not sure what is meant by 'formazione' so have stuck to something equally vague! Moulding might make sense in the context but I really don't know. |

i beg to differ Machining is to shape cut or remove excess material from a workpiece by using a machine tool. So please think carefully before diagreeing
