Hi peoples
Thanks for your help. I'm in trouble again here on this employment contract stuff, particularly with the meaning of "assorbilile" in the following context.
"...ai dirigenti assunti o nominati precedentemente al 1° gennaio 2002 compete, sulla retribuzione di fatto, un aumento pari a lire XXX mensili lorde dal 1° gennaio 2002, non assorbibile."
TIA
Derek

absorbable
OK, I won't kid you and tell you I understand WHERE it's absorbed or not absorbed, but this is apparently HR lingo.
In your case, of course, it would be "non-absorbable".
Check the site below is all about salary and wage rages, and it's full of the word: here are just a few examples.
- the safety net adjustment should be fully absorbable into all above award payments, including formalised agreements, informal overawards and any residual component of converted paid rates awards;
A flat $8.00 should apply to award rates and minimum wage from 22 April 1998. This should be fully absorbable in any over-awards. There should be a prime facie entitlement to 2nd $8.00 from 22 April 1999.

Comment: "Thanks cb et al, you have eased my mind with those excellent references. After having read it all several times I reckon I even understand it now, but I'll probably have to keep the meaning secret out of deference to my customer.
Cheers
Derek"
