Hi

Used to make a shoulder bag.

If I were a sheep and about to end up as a bag, I would be "crispé" too... ;-)

Many thanks.

Support you local PETA chapter (although I must say I enjoy my Australian sheerling boots today--it's 3°F!). Sorry no clue about the translation, but very interested in what it could be.

shrunken [or drawn] grain sheepskin

When translating leather terms, it is very important to know the actual terms used in the leather industry.
When a light leather such as sheepskin is washed and allowed to shrink, the leather is drawn in. The washing and resulting shrinkage allows the the grain to be enlarged and enhanced, so that it has the "crispé" effect.
While shrunken grain and drawn grain may be synonymous, the CTC gives 'shrunken' as the translation for "crispé" and I think that 'shrunken grain' may actually be used more in advertisements than 'drawn grain' for finished pieces.

You're welcome, Sandra, and thank you! :-)
Note from asker:
Thanks Claire - I'd searched "crispé" in the CTC glossary before asking and found "levant" for "crispé levant" but not "crispée". Thanks for finding that!

washed "cuir crispe" sheep (leather)

washed crinkled lamb leather

Hi Sandra,
Low confidence level, because I am just throwing this out after a little detective work, and you'll have to dig a little further to confirm.

But this site shows a "cuir crispe" and it looks slightly crinkled to me.

Then this site shows a "washed crinkled leather tote", so bags made of washed crinkled leather do indeed exist! Now, whether your bag is actually this is another question...

At any rate, I hope this helps you a bit in your search. Good luck!
