Spanish term
precinto
Spanish to English
Law/Patents
Insurance
I need help translating the term "precinto", which shows up twice in a sentence. I know that in a customs context, "precintar" would be to seal or place under seal. Would the same expression be used in the following context (i.e. a policeman stops a driver and finds out the vehicle is uninsured)? The term "impound" wuld be used if the vehicle is seized and taken to an impound lot, but in the sentence, the choice is either to "precintar" the car and take it to a lot or "precintar" (immobilize?) it at the owner's premises.
Sentence:
"(...) formulará la correspondiente denuncia a la autoridad competente, que ordenará el inmediato precinto y depósito del vehículo en establecimiento público o el precinto en el domicilio de titular o poseedor si en el plazo de cinco días no se justifica la existencia del seguro"
Opinions?
Thanks in advance!
