Note from asker:
Thanks - you may be right. I checked BBVA and that is what they use. I also read this at Wikipedia: "Minority interest in business is an accounting concept that refers to ownership of a company (subsidiary) that is less than 50% of outstanding shares.[1] Minority interest belongs to other investors and is reported on the consolidated balance sheet of the owning company between liabilities and equity sections to reflect the claim on assets belonging to other, non-controlling shareholders. Also, minority interest is reported on the consolidated income statement as a share of profit belonging to minority shareholders." It appears to be singular. The thing that makes me doubt is that "minority interest" also comes up as "participación minoritaria".... Thanks |

external shareholder or external members/partners
Depending on the rights of these external members they could be a minority shareholder or a mayor shareholder. Remember that shareholders are those who put money into the business, if they only provide intelectual input they would not be shareholders, they would be partners/ board members or associates.
