a [human] body, two toms and a floor tom

corps is not an ordinary drumming term, I assume here it simply means a person. It is mentioned because a drum set usually includes many more elements. A bass tom is a floor tom in English.

2 toms & a floor tom are normal in a drum kit. But you also get a bass drum, a snare, a hi-hat, a crash cymbal and a ride cymbal.

neutral Lidija Lazic : je doute qu'on parle du corps humain ici

Lidija - You may very well be right. Perhaps the author is describing some sort of unusual folk or invented instrument?
agree Cervin : You could use a body for percussion. eg hand clapping, tapping arms/ legs. fingers, cheeks/ tongue clicking etc etc. But see my note below abt floor&bass toms

An excellent point I hadn't considered. Body percussion is indeed very popular, especially in an unconventional context, which seems to be the case here.
agree Deborah Workman : Here's a link about body percussion. Could well be! http://www.body-p.com/eigo.htm

I can't see much else. Calking it a "battery" is a little strange, but perhaps it is "poetic". I would have expected "percussion" as more normal.

Cant find anything to translate 'corps' unless it is an 'in' term for the body - basic instruments- of the drum kit. I will keep looking....
What kind of music is it talking about (assuming it is music.....!)

Also please note: description of floor AND bass tom
A Floor Tom.
(If you are right handed, it sits at the side of the kit to your Right hand side on 3 legs)

A Bass Tom.
(Sits on top of the Bass Drum in holes specifically for holding it. can number between 1 or 4 tom)

Peer comment(s):

neutral David Vaughn : Your link calls toms "bass toms" because they are mounted on the bass drum. This is inventive nomenclature. In any case, the Fr author already mentions 2 toms, so another bass drum-mounted "tom basse" just doesn't fit.

Thanks, but see my added not about floor & bass toms
