Well, based upon all this discussion, perhaps Jim's suggestion is better. I understand what Silvia is saying about Valeria's suggestions, only I can't see strangers entering into underground floors or basements of buildings in town. Ground-floor areas, yes, if they are open. I do think the meaning is conveyed with Derek's or Jim's suggestions, as the point is that the place is crawling with tourists - no one can probably point out exactly where they're going unless it's a controlled event. In any case, thanks again everyone!
