Dutch term or phrase: volle grond
I am translating a cookbook from Dutch (B) to English (US) and in an introductory piece about asparagus, the following text appears:

"Niets gaat boven een Mechelse asperge afkomstig uit volle grond." and later "Buiten het vollegrondseizoen zijn er ook wel goede asperges te vinden."

I don't know how to translate 'volle grond' and 'buiten het vollegrondseizoen'. Any suggestions will be welcome.

Thank you for your help.

Explanation:
The usual terms for vollegronds~ are outdoor, field or open-ground. For 'afkomstig uit volle grond', you could say 'grown/cultivated outdoors' or 'grown/cultivated in open ground'. Vollegrondseizoen would be 'field season' or 'outdoor season'. These are the terms I've used in a monthly newsletter on fruit and veg for the past six years. Vollegrondsgroente = field vegetable (field cucumber, asparagus, etc). Another option is 'open-field' but there seems less evidence for that.

Huitenga's agricultural dictionary actually has vollegrondsasperges: field (open-ground, outdoor) asparagus
Vollegrondsgewas: outdoor crop, open-ground crop
Vollegrondsgroenteteelt: field vegetable production
Vollegrondsteelt: open-ground cultivation, outdoor cultivation: outdoor crop

The idea is to distinguish between greenhouse/glasshouse and field cultivation.
