Il mio problema è che non capisco la differenza tra queste due frasi :
1. If you fail to file an appearance....
2. If you fail to appear
La frase reale è: ...you are required by law to file Notice of appearance in the form required under the Rules of the Superior Courts.
Posso tradurre: ...siete tenuti in base alla legge a depositare una richiesta di comparizione ecc.
oppure significa ...siete tenuti in base alla legge a presentarvi.
e ancora: if an appearance is not filed within 14 days significa " se non viene depositata un ordine di vocomparizione entro 14 giorni" oppure "se non vi presentate entro 14 giorni"
Sono confuso, sarà l'ora. Aiutatemi per favore

The objective of the respondent in completing a notice of appearance is to set out their defence fully
and to deny (where appropriate) allegations made by the applicant. However, the notice of appearance
should not contain all of the evidence upon which the respondent intends to rely if the case progresses
to a hearing. The importance of the pleadings is that these will frequently be the only documents a
tribunal will have the opportunity to read before the hearing commences.

Dipende dal contesto. Ti cito il de franchis:
"Appearance - Comparizione in genere. Indica sia la comparizione personale sia, più spesso, la costituzione in giudizio del convenuto, cui sia stato notificato un writ of summons, detta, in senso stretto, appearing o entering an appearance..... la mancata comparizione, detta anche non-appearance, default, o failure to appeal, dà luogo in clauni casi alla sentenza contumaciale...."
