This would be my understanding of the meaning, the problem is, what's it doing under the heading microbiology? If this were a biopsy, sure. Puzzling.

Certain types of adhesive tape are known to take pieces of skin with them when removed - particularly the type used after catheter-type examinations. This is based on personal experience, and I was told this could happen before the examination took place!

: You are right in that a wound is sometimes the result of adhesive forces of a tape, but here a specific term is used. (see added note)
