En bodega
In Spanish you would say something like "hay que pedirlo a la bodega" or "está en bodega" or, in a more colloquial situation, "no me queda, pero me va a llegar la próxima semana" :).

pedido pendiente
Several variations on the them, backed by Alcaraz Varo-Brian Hughes:
pedido pendiente, atrasado o no cumplimentado/despachado; resto de pedido.

Is everybody guessing?
I have a feeling you're all guessing... none of these answers is covering the full extent of the fact that something on backorder HAS been ordered, and IS expected to be received.
Anyone want to try again?

I partially agree with her/him.
So, what about:
Despacho pendiente
En espera por ser despachado
Pedido en espera
Pedido retrasado
(These last options given by Routledge Business, Commerce and Finance Dictionary)

As a consultant, I've worked on these issues and there are a couple of things you need to determine:
1) If the item in back-order status is an order to be fulfilled by Production
2) If the item in back-order status is for a purchased item.
In the first case, I'd recommend 'Orden retrasada de produccion'. In the second case, I'd suggest 'Orden pendiente del proveedor'. As you can see, the approach is different for both cases.

Something went wrong...
