Bio
About me
I was born in New Zealand but lived in South Korea for 10 years as my parents were teaching English over there. I have travelled extensively, having lived in Spain and spent an extended period of time in France. I currently live and work in New Zealand which is an advantage when translating and editing for clients based in Europe as I work while they sleep.
Translation experience
I have been working as a freelance translator for NZTC International Ltd (the largest translate centre in New Zealand) since July 2008 and more recently have been freelancing for the Translation Service (Dept. of Internal Affairs) since 2014. My languages include Portuguese, Spanish, French, Korean and Afrikaans. I specialise in medical translations but have a wide range of experience in translating:
• Medical journal articles
• Birth certificates, diplomas and driver's licences
• Trade agreements
• Oil and gas maintenance contracts
Philosophy
I have the unique ability to maintain the integrity of the source language while making the translation sound natural. I am a perfectionist by nature and take pride in my work, meaning that I go the extra mile to ensure that the work I do is of the highest standard, requiring as little editing as possible.
I understand the importance of deadlines in translation and editing work and am very good at prioritising my workload to ensure that I meet deadlines, often delivering ahead of time. I never work right up to a deadline as the potential for unforeseeable variables is too high, preferring instead to finish the job the day before it is due if possible.
