Definition / notes:	The meaning of "angina" varies from author to author. Most understand it to mean bacterial tonsillitis, or specifically streptococcal tonsillitis. However, sometimes "angina" refers not to tonsillitis, but to pharyngitis; on occasion it is also used with reference to viral infections. There are also those for whom the main feature of "angina" is acute soreness in the throat area, or breathing difficulties, regardless of what specific infection is the cause of the problem.
